In the finance industry, there is something called an “intangible asset” which is a term used to denote a non-physical value that is as important as its material counterpart. In businesses, an intangible asset is an important part of the whole, and one of the most crucial in making one’s business grow is reputation. A company may have a branding, an image, a marketing audience it tries to advertise itself to, but without good reputation the business will lose out on customers, clients and their niche in the industry.

There have been businesses that have closed down due to poor management and its branding have retained a negative reputation that makes it all the more harder for the company to climb back up. The most shocking news have come from loan and finance establishments offering house loans and mortgage as well as equity. Once trust is broken, it is hard to repair it; even with private equity public relations it is going to be a huge undertaking to uplift the company that has earned a bad reputation again.

Intangible assets may not have the same monetary or financial value to a company, but they are crucial and a valuable addition to ensure a long standing success for all the product or service offered in a company. For investment companies that offer mutual funds and hedge fund products, there has been several stereotypes and misconceptions that have aided to the negative reputation that it has now. The recent economic strain has also put hedge fund PR teams to work double time to be able to erase the bad status that have plagued the finance industry, affecting millions of people and businesses.

For example, a big company such as the fashion and accessory giant Louis Vuitton would not be as successful if they didn’t build such a good reputation over the years. Nowadays, this brand is now synonymous with the word “high-quality” and they have an intact reputation because of their superior product, excellent customer service, as well as global brand recognition.

The finance business is always a sensitive industry, prone to the ups and downs of trade. But any finance-related establishment will benefit from utilizing public relations to promote their products, highlight accomplishments, reach out to a multitude of people, banner great things about the business, and most importantly, to constantly build a solid reputation to gain trust and confidence for both customers and clients alike.
