How to Prevent Swollen Gums

One of the most common dental health problems is swollen gums. Swollen gums are noticeable because they appear as inflamed or puffy, tender and enlarged. There are many causes of swollen gums such as malnutrition, vitamin C deficiency, improper brushing of teeth, pregnancy, bacteria build up and infection from fungus or virus. A person who has swollen gums may lose the appetite to eat since the feeling of discomfort is more evident than the tasty food at hand.

Preventing swollen gums from resurfacing can be easy.  First purchase a toothbrush with soft bristles and use toothpaste for sensitive teeth. In this way you can make sure that whenever you brush your teeth the brush that touches your gums doesn’t harm or cause your gums to bleed. At the same time, know or try new and better ways to brush your teeth. Remember that taking these dental problems for granted my cause bad breath. These are the causes of not practicing good dental hygiene.

In addition, brushing your teeth regularly can prevent bacteria build up that cause swollen gums, mouth sores and receding gums.  Secondly, eat foods that are rich in vitamin C.  Make sure to eat your meal at least three times a day. Eat fresh vegetables and fruits this could help boost your immune system that can fight disease especially if you are pregnant. Taking good care of yourself and the baby in your womb is the number one priority.

Finally, visit a professional dentist for check up. Frequently setting up a schedule with your dentist can be very helpful. In this way, the doctor will be able to diagnose the problem earlier and the professional dentist can give you a sound advice on what to do.  With this, your awareness about this dental disease is not limited to what you have read or heard from different resources. Moreover, these dental problems can be cause by a more serious illness in your body so it is best to have a regular check up.

If you already have swollen gums, the question is how to treat these. There are many ways to treat swollen gums: First, prepare lemon juice just rinse the affected area with this solution. It can be painful at first since it is inflamed. Second, floss regularly. The purpose of flossing is to eliminate dirt in your mouth that can’t be omitted by your toothbrush whether it is an automatic toothbrush or just a regularly one.
